Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to do to get started?
Step number one is scheduling a consultation. During an initial consultation, you will have an in-depth meeting with Dr. Kirzhner addressing your concerns.
How do I know what treatment is right for me?
Dr. Kirzhner will recommend a specific procedure (or combination of procedures) that best meet your needs and provide you with the best treatment or surgical approach. Before and after photos of similar cases will also be shared during your consultation.
How often will I need to receive treatment?
Truthfully, it depends. Most clients who receive RHA fillers return within 6 months to a year, whereas Botox, Daxxify, and/or Xeomin require frequent injections every 3-4 months.
Are there any essential items needed for surgery preparation?
Yes, the following essentials are a must:
- Pharmacy Prescriptions: After surgery medications will be sent to your pharmacy ahead of time. Please pick up all prescriptions prior to your surgery date. If your pharmacy did not receive any prescriptions prior to surgery, please contact our office immediately.
- Over the Counter Medications:
- Arnica/Anicare pills are recommended for surgery to help with the healing process. Dr. Kirzhner recommends patients to start taking this homeopathic medication at least three days prior to surgery and for three days after surgery. However, this medication is only recommended and if you are unable to use this, that is perfectly okay. Ask our staff about in-house purchases.
- Artificial Tear Lubricating Eye Drops: Your eyes will temporarily dry after your procedure. Place one drop in each eye 4 times a day as needed for dryness. This can be purchased at any pharmacy.
- Eye Gel Packs: Gel masks are highly recommended for cold compresses for after surgery care. Cold compresses will be used to the surgery site for 15 minutes every hour you are awake for the first 2 days following surgery. In-house purchasing is also available for this.
- Extra Strength Tylenol (Acetaminophen): After surgery, you may experience some mild discomfort. Extra Strength Tylenol is recommended for any mild pain or discomfort.
What to expect on the day of surgery?
On the day of your procedure dress comfortably in clean and loose-fitting clothes. Shirts that can be buttoned or zipped are preferred.
Do not wear any makeup, moisturizer/ sunscreen, or any facial products. A clean face and eyes are preferred. Please shower the night before or the morning of surgery and wash your hair. This will help reduce the risk of infection by eliminating bacteria.
Do not wear contact lenses and remember to bring your glasses/readers with you to sign any necessary paperwork.
Please remove all piercings and leave any valuables at home.
You will need a driver with you to drive you home after your surgery.
What will it cost to receive treatment?
Cost of treatment will vary, but we’ll always provide upfront pricing before you receive any treatment.
Do I need to stop any medications prior to surgery?
Yes, a full list of medications to avoid prior to surgery will be given at your consultation. However, blood thinner medications MUST BE discontinued and approved by your medical doctor prior to surgery. All blood thinners must be stopped in order to proceed. If blood thinner medications can not be stopped prior to surgery, then your surgery can not proceed due to a higher risk of bleeding. Coumadin/Warfarin, Plavix, Xarelto, Pradaxa, and Eliquis should be discontinued 3-5 days prior to surgery. Aspirin, BC, Aleve, Advil, Motrin, Ecotrin, Excedrin, Dristan, Celebrax, Naprosyn, Vanquish, Midol, and Alka Seltzer are also among the list of blood thinning medications that should be stopped 7-10 days prior to surgery.
What are the post operative instructions?
In-depth post operative instructions will be given during your consultation. The list provided below is a quick overview for some of the instructions.
- Cold compresses are a MUST and should be applied until bedtime (at least 15 minutes out of every hour) the day of your procedure and then continued the following day.
- Prescription antibiotic ointment and/ or antibiotic eye drops are essential for recovery. Prescription medication should be picked up prior to surgery. If your pharmacy does not have the prescription, please contact our office.
- AVOID bending over the waist, strenuous activity, and heavy lifting (over 10 pounds) for the first FIVE days after surgery.
- Mild-to-moderate discomfort may occur after surgery, but this varies. For any discomfort you may take Extra Strength Tylenol if capable. In most cases, cold compresses are excellent at alleviating any discomfort.
- For follow up care, your post op appointment will generally take place within 7-14 days after your procedure. However, this does vary depending on procedural types.
